Join us for the Spring Kick-off Meeting:

When: April 14th 6pm

Where: Brighton High School Media Center

Who: You! Bring a friend! We are excited to meet you!

Gear Needed

TL;DR: We love new people and are eager to help, BUT there are some items you will need to have fun and be safe: a working mountain bike with gears and no kickstand, helmet, hydration, snack, gloves and eye protection. If you have any questions, you can read below, or ask the team captains on the Facebook page (link in the menu)

Helmet

Helmets are always required when on a bicycle. Non-negotiable. Everyone must comply, or they will be suspended from the team.

Hydration

Riders must bring water on the rides. It can be in a hydration pack, like CamelBak, water bottles, or a water bottle in a backpack

Mountain Bike

Kickstand Removed!
Kickstands are a threat on the trail that can act like a catapult if they extend while riding.
Bikes need to be in good working order so time at practice can be spent riding, not trying to get a student’s bike in working order.

Bring bikes to practice with:

-Brakes working well
-Bike shifting well
-Chain and Drive Train are clean and smooth

Note: For elementary riders, NO Coaster Brakes, Gears to shift are Needed, if you are having trouble finding a smaller bike, Woom, or Trailcraft make kid size mountain bikes.

Optional Gear

Snack

To continually have energy, riders need food for fuel throughout the day. Carrying a small snack that is quick energy on the ride can make for a smoother experience.

Gloves

Gloves are needed to protect hands in case of a fall, and to maintain grip when riders are sweaty, or it is raining.

Eye Protection

Eye Protection is strongly encouraged. We ride on trails in the forest, where there are pebbles, dirt, bugs, and branches. Options vary widely on price, even the $2 safety glasses from Home Depot are beneficial and all options are welcome.

Tools and Supplies

The goal is for older riders to learn how to service their bikes and handle trail side repairs.
The goal is to have them carry their own tools and learn to be comfortable using:

-A multi-tool
-Pump or CO2 cartridge
-Spare Tube

Note: We ride in the light rain of spring, the heat of the summer, and in the cold of the fall. It is important for riders to be prepared for all conditions.
